FAQs

What happens in the first consultation?

1

The first meeting is a confidential conversation to understand your situation, answer any questions you may have, and discuss possible next steps.

Not always. Many family law matters can be resolved through negotiation or mediation. Where court proceedings are necessary, you’ll be guided carefully through the process.

2

Do I need to go to court?

My hourly rate is $350.00 plus GST per hour. Fee and time estimates can be discussed openly during the initial consultation.

3

How much does it cost?

Yes. Your privacy and confidentiality are treated with care and professionalism at every stage.

4

Is everything confidential?

How long does the process take?

5

Every situation is different. Some matters can be resolved relatively quickly, while others may take longer depending on complexity and the circumstances involved. For example, Family Violence Act proceedings are typically only a few months at most. Care of Children Act proceedings can be brief or extensive, depending on how much is in dispute. Oranga Tamariki Act proceedings, if they come before the Family Court, can sometimes take years.

You can reach me anytime via the contact form below or by email. I aim to respond promptly and will usually get back to you within one to three business days.

6

How can I contact you?

Do you provide legal aid or government-funded assistance?

7

Yes. Legal aid and other forms of government-funded assistance may be available depending on your circumstances and the nature of your family law matter.

Guidance can be provided on whether you may be eligible for legal aid, how the process works, and what information may be required as part of an application.

If you are unsure about eligibility or funding options, these can be discussed during the initial consultation in a clear and confidential setting.

What do I do if Oranga Tamariki are involved with my children?

8

If Oranga Tamariki are involved, you have rights alongside your children's rights. If Oranga Tamariki have taken Court Orders in relation to your child, it is crucial to seek legal advice immediately. I can help you understand your rights and options, including how to challenge Oranga Tamariki decisions. I provide expert representation to help you navigate the legal process.
